On Thursday, August 1st, Crafts for a Cause participants enjoyed creating painted twig bouquets for the Total Senior Care program in Wellsville, NY. Children were invited to sit outside of the David A. Howe Public Library and help make these colorful centerpieces. Participants were encouraged to create a bouquet to take home, and one to donate to Total Senior Care.
Children’s Librarian, Kate Miller, started Crafts for a Cause 2 years ago with the goal of teaching kids the importance of giving back to their community. Participating children get to enjoy a variety of crafts, such as painting, creating pet toys, and building keepsake boxes. Miller says she chooses the craft based on what she thinks an organization needs or will use.
Some of the past organizations that Crafts for a Cause has donated to include The Allegany County Association for the Blind, Allegany County TNR, the SPCA, and Hart Comfort House of Allegany County. You can learn more about this program by visiting the David A. Howe Public Library at 155 N. Main St. in Wellsville, NY or by visiting their website: davidahowelibrary.org.
